Wow, look at me just completely copy the other format. HAHA. Reserving this for our teams and stuff ma dude. Ignore the names, I'll edit them when we create our characters. :P
Just going to reserve this to keep track of the Pokemon each person has, who has died, PC, etc. I'll edit it more as we go along.

What was supposed to be a 'congratulations, you graduated college!' gift was actually more like 'be happy'. Renly could see straight through his aunts' lies. He'd spent years doing it, and it was an acquired skill he wasn't going to be quick to forget anytime soon. So with that being said, they whisked him away to their summer hom in Johto to his utmost dismay, and forced him into this 'Pokémon League Challenge' that included anyone from the ages of sixteen to twenty-five to participate. Unlucky for Renly, he was just barely able to squeeze into that mark. 'Have an adventure,' Cibrina had told him. 'Go do something fun before you bore your life away in some firm.' But that was what Renly had wanted. All those scholarships to school had him taking control of his life and classes to get ahead of the game so he could get some boring job, move away from his aunts, and actually maybe focus on doing the impossible. Fixing himself. But no, clearly he had to at least experience the life of a Pokémon Trainer, even if he was perfectly content with watching the championship exhibition battles from Sinnoh and Galar on his television. Sure, he didn't have one of his own, but he'd planned on purchasing one eventually. Just... when he had everything together.
Now though, his aunts figured that forcing Rely to partake in this absolute disaster was the way to fix him. And he didn't really have the option to say no because they were the co-signers of his future lease and without one, he couldn't move out. Bunch of devious little assholes, that's what they were.
It was one of the rare moments Renly was actually up early. Sure, he looked like he just rolled out of bed (he did) with his tussled dark hair and tired eyes, but he was up with a cup of to-go coffee in his hands as he wandered over to this Professor Elm's lab. Apparently, it was a big day for people to get their Pokémon, and part of him hoped there would be none left when the time came to it. But, no, his aunts had 'reassured' him that they'd already threw his name into the hat and he was sure to get one as long as he showed up.
Renly contemplated not showing up.
Fishing through his pockets, he produced a small candy bar and began to unwrap it as best he could without dropping his coffee as he walked inside. Immediately he was met by raucous laughter and the giddiness of people of all ages receiving their Pokémon. A man with the inability to grow hair in the normal way looked up when Renly walked in and eagerly waved him over as some of the people ran past Renly with different kinds of Pokémon bounding around him. Popping his mouth, Renly forced himself to walk forward to greet whoever this man was - presumably Professor Elm - and was completely overtaken with how ecstatic this man was about everything. His chattering actually gave Renly a headache before he was thrust forward, standing before three Pokémon that he did recognize. Staring down at a Chikorita, Totodile, and a Cyndaquil, they all blinked at the tired man, almost all thinking 'really?'. But they were stuck with him as much as he was them.
Now, Renly prided himself on having plans, but he had no idea which starter he wanted to pick. Mostly because he didn't care all that much. In his hand was still the opened candy bar, abandoned for the sake of staring at these creatures, when the Cyndaquil caught the smell of it. Perking her nose lightly, she sniffed the air, and then had the gall to walk forward and scream at Renly. "Cynda!" She yowled, tugging at his pants legs. Renly almost kicked her away, but then realized she was probably sniffing the candy bar and, after a second, dropped down to the floor and held it gently out. Professor Elm coughed disapprovingly behind him, but he could get over it. Sure, feeding a Cyndaquil chocolate may not have been the healthiest thing, but she really seemed to enjoy it. It... actually tugged a smile up as she chomped to the other two Pokémon's dismay onto the chocolate, devouring it within seconds and already sniffing his hand for more. He did have more, but he wasn't going to share it with the glutton. That was his breakfast. "Yeah," he said, gently dropping his hand onto the Cyndaquil's head. "I'll take this one."

There was nothing more exciting than picking out your first Pokemon to accompany your travels. Or at least that's what Mikayla had always been told, though she often times begged to differ on the subject. She had seen first hand what the powers of those legendaries can do, or what kind of people would try to climb to power. It had been why she had moved so far from home with her dad in the first place, a brief news cover of a small island far from here and the horrors that had happened. 'An experiment gone wrong' is what they had called it but Mack had known better, she knew what had went on behind the closed doors of the lab, she knew why there was an island full of a brand new type of pokemon called the 'nuclear'. College had been a walk in the park for her once they moved here, she had wanted to do something with her life, something different than what had been expected of her from the rest of her family.
"You should follow in her footsteps, you're smart enough to do so." They told her, she merely dismissed it half the time with a forced laugh. Or her dad would steer the conversation away from the topic. It seemed as though matter what she had done, she would never be good enough in their eyes unless she joined some sort of organization that was run by a bunch of power hungry mongrels. Not even the lowest of rattatas deserved to gnaw on their bones.
She was already running late, though she could care less. She was only doing this because her dad was forcing her to, trying to show her that there was good in the world and that not everything ends up the way it did back home. She would've been perfectly content living out the rest of her days doing something stable, something that gave her some sort of routine rather than the chaos that seemed to follow her wherever she went. He had after all, practically shoved her out of the house with nothing more than a bag to put her stuff in and a busted phone that barely worked. But it was all that they could've afforded at the moment, starting out in a new region was harder than either of them had expected, despite the people seeming... So friendly? She wasn't sure if it was pity or if they were being genuine.
She hesitated outside of the doors to the lab. Contemplating just turning around and walking off.
But she didn't want to become even more of a disappointment than what she already had. If she wasn't going to live up to the rest of her family's standards, she may as well just try to satisfy one. The professor certainly seemed to be a bubbly man, and when greeted he damn near gave her a headache with how fast he was talking. She was barely able to keep up, she glanced around at the others, tuning out what the professor was saying despite the seemingly disapproving smile on his face. Everyone else seemed so much younger than what she was, except for one, who seemed just as amused by everything as she was. She had been given the rundown on the types before she had come here. There was no question who she was going to pick as she walked over to the Totodile and studied it for perhaps a second too long. She crouched down in front of it and reached a hand out to pat it, the Totodile seemed completely unamused by the action and she had to stifle a laugh. "I'll take this one." She stated simply as she picked the creature up.

"Mm... don't think I can give you anymore," Renly whispered to the Cyndaquil, who was shoving her nose into the base of his hand, clearly looking for more chocolate that he certainly did have in his pocket. Unfortunately, the professor was right there, and again, that was his breakfast. The little bugger could get her own food. Renly was a starving man. Someone else walked in, and his surprise, she looked to be around his age. Okay, at least he wasn't the only one a little late to the party he didn't even want an invite to. While he obviously didn't care who this woman was, he couldn't help but be curious about who she would pick. His second choice would've been Chikorita, mostly because Totodile's mouth looked like it could chop off his whole hand, and he sort of still needed those. And, to his horror, Renly watched her try and greet the Totodile, who was clearly unamused by her display of animosity.
"I'll read a good eulogy to your hands," Renly joked tiredly, nodding towards the large mouthed Pokémon now in her arms. Dangerous, very dangerous. Clearly, sharing attention wasn't something the Cyndaquil was good at, and with a screech, shoved her entire face into the still outstretched palm of his hand. "Alright, geez," Renly grumbled, sweeping up the far too enthusiastic Pokémon into his arms. It took some effort to push himself to his feet since he was still juggling a cup of coffee in his hands, and the Cyndaquil was quick to take notice. Her stupid, long nose was poking the lid in hopes of knocking it off, and Renly could do nothing because his hands were quite literally tied as she knocked it off and tipped the coffee closer to her, splattering some on the ground. Renly jumped back before any could hit his actually clean clothing, and he scowled at the Pokémon who was now delighting in his morning wake-up call.
The professor was now looking at him with very clear disapproval, but he could screw off because that was out of Renly's control. Maybe if he got in enough trouble they'd just confiscate the Pokémon and he'd be free to go back to his actual life. Shaking his head, Renly pulled the now half drained cup from the Cyndaquil's mouth, which was now covered in caffeine, because she needed more, and walked over to the trash can. It wasn't like he could finish it, anyway. Bratty little Cyndaquil.

"Actually I'm hoping he'll go right for the jugular and just end the suffering now." She shot back at Renly with a slight amused look, glancing down at the crocodile looking pokemon in her arms as it slowly looked up at her. Looking about amused as what she was at the whole thing, at least the creature shared something in common with her. She looked down at the creature and chuckled in amusement. "Will ya? Just go right for the neck lil' dude and I'll make sure you have a fantastic life." She mumbled quietly to the creature that looked unamused at the notion and opted for yawning, showing off the fangs and teeth it had. Her sense of humor was, at the best of times, dark, while morbid at other times. The professor seemed less than amused at her joke with the blue thing. Chikorita hadn't caught her interest as much, and while her crush from Galar was a fan of grass types, she wasn't at all. They seemed a bit too... Needy as far as she could see, and the less needy a pokemon was for her the better.
Not that she wouldn't help take of them in the blink of an eye, but only if it was Milo's. She blinked to get rid of the thoughts and focused more on the Cyndaquil that was grabbing at Renly's coffee. A hyped up on caffeine fire type. Fantastic. That's the type she'd be forced to travel with as the younger trainers had grabbed their pokedex's already and left the lab. They seemed to be the only two still hanging around.
She bit her lip to keep from going off at the professor for the looks he was giving the two oldest ones, but the last thing she needed was for anyone to scold her over mouthing off to the professor. Even if it was well deserved, she tended to notice most seemed to place themselves up on pedestals. Except for maybe the Alolan professor, he seemed pretty dang chill. "Hm, how about a 'death by caffeinated fire type' would seem appropriate for a gravestone." Her voice dropped and she mumbled quieter. "Or by the professor with the attitude he's giving us. God." She huffed, the professor cleared his throat and she merely turned her attention towards him as an assistant began to clean up the coffee that was spilled over the floor. She set down the water type. "Here, make yourself useful and help them clean it up." She instructed simply, which earned her a disapproving look.

It was hard to stop the slight snort from escaping his nose at the woman's shot back, though he was a bit too preoccupied with keeping a hold of the Cyndaquil in his arms to really give her all that much focus anymore. Not a second later, she was shooting something else that had Renly snickering. He could appreciate someone with sharp wit, and seeing as the professor was glaring at the two of them, most likely just hoping they'd leave before they ended up breaking everything in the damn lab, Renly mumbled an apology to the aide on the ground cleaning up the coffee and stepped back a bit to give them more room. The woman had put her Totodile onto the ground and was commanding him to 'make himself useful', which he didn't seem pleased about. Renly cracked a grin just as the professor appeared, holding two brightly colored Pokèdex's. Ah, yes, the staple of any Pokémon trainer.
"And with this, you two will be able to collect the data of any Pokémon caught," the professor stated, cutting through the bickering and handing them each one. "As well as a few Pokéballs to get you started..." Now being given more stuff to carry, Renly had to somehow managed to shove it into his bag while not dropping the fire-type in his arms. Surprisingly successful, he understood what the professor really meant... 'get out'. And Renly could appreciate the passive aggressive gesture. While he didn't care much for the people in the lab, he also didn't want to be fined for anymore destruction caused by his new nuisance of a child in his arms.
"Thanks again," Renly said with a wave of his hand. And then he was out of there, stepping over the still spilled coffee and meandered out of the lab. The sun was definitely better than the inside of a lab, and Renly could feel his body aching for a nap, but no, he had to... go challenge some gyms. And basically live under a tree for a few years. Great. Sighing through his nose, he held the Cyndaquil aloft, who stared at him with her squinting eyes. "I guess I'll call you Kitkat since you're a candy gremlin," he grumbled. She didn't seem either pleased nor upset about the name. No, she just looked like she wanted more caffeine.

Mikayla could do nothing more than simply accept the dex with a small nod of thanks before promptly shoving everything haphazardly into her bag. She scooped the totodile back up once the mess had been cleaned up and headed out of the lab. No doubt it wouldn't be much longer before her dad was calling her to inform her he heard about how she was acting at the lab. Not that she cared much, if anything she held herself back from being a complete arse to the professor. "Guess I better give you a name." She merely mumbled as she stepped outside. "Trelawney it shall be then." She blinked and grumbled. "Damn the sun, too bright." The totodile merely gave a mumble of agreement. At least they got along on something. Hopefully they'd be able to crash at the nearest pokemon center, if not... Well she supposed the cold hard ground would do just fine too out in the open like they were going to be.
She spotted Renly not too far off, figuring that if he wanted to join them he could. Or he could not. Though it would be nice to have someone else who was bitter about the whole thing too. She overheard the name he had given the Cyndaquil and snickered in response. "Great name for a tiny trouble maker." She commented as she began to walk towards the first route, which she believed was Route 29. "Think I can appreciate the passive aggressive way of getting us out of there though. Kudos to the professor for actually doing something." She then shook her head. Glancing down at the totodile in her arms. Trelawney merely blinked in response at her, seemingly not thrilled about the change of scenery. "Get ready to be living underneath trees for... the next however long this takes." Which caused the thing to snort at the statement. "That's a mood." She continued, pausing at the tall grass.
Perhaps it was her nerves getting the better of her, but she merely acted as though she had gotten a message from someone. Partially in hopes that she had, she had been talking to Milo a bit though the conversations had dwindled down to practically nothing. Oh well. She could take a hint, most times. Not that it ever really mattered in the first place.
